Trusting the companies that handle our personal data helps us choose who we shop, travel and bank with. Breaking this trust damages brands, organisations and sometimes entire industries. In the future, successful businesses will be those who generate the most value from their data – but without sacrificing their customers’ privacy.
A new survey by Trūata highlights that consumers are more worried than ever about the way their data is used and shared by companies. 65% of customers say they are more likely to be loyal to a company if they trust them to use their personal data appropriately.
This is again most pronounced with younger customers – over half of them would spend more money with companies they trust with their data.
Increasing customer concerns with how companies use personal data mean that customers – in particular younger customers – appreciate the value of anonymization.
Over 55% of customers born after 1979 say they would be willing to share more of their personal data with companies, on the condition of total anonymity.
