Women in Security Podcast
THE IMPORTANCE OF LEVERAGING YOUR NETWORK AND WHEN TO LISTEN TO YOUR INNER CRITIC - KELLY MCKILLEN CHIEF INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER FOR TRūATA
The Women in Security podcast is devoted to the world of cyber security and the women who make it great. In each episode, Lifen Tan chats with a different guest speaker to discuss their experiences in the industry. The podcast also highlights some of the lesser known aspects of the cyber security industry. It explores the routes to both technical and non-technical roles in this space, as well as the skillsets required to be successful in them.
In this episode Trūata’s Chief Information Security Officer, Kelly McKillen, sits down with Lifen to share her insights. Kelly began her career in AIB, one of the leading financial institutions in Ireland, as a graduate. She then worked in several departments, before moving into Information Security. Kelly discusses how important it is to leverage your network and resources in a role. She describes some of her previous roles which lead her to her current position and reveals whether or not having a technical background gives you a better advantage over those who don’t.
